Yoga Hike :: Poo Poo Point (Chirico Trail) June 23

  • June 23, 2019
    8:00 am - 12:00 pm

Join us Sunday June 23 for hiking & outdoor yoga at poo poo point (chirico trail)

Hike: “Intermediate/hard” 3.6 miles (round-trip) with steady elevation gain (~1,700 ft)

Yoga: 60 minute all-levels Vinyasa-style yoga class

Date/Time: Sunday, June 23, 8am – 1pm

Who: All are welcome! (Geared towards adults, kids are welcome ages ~ 10years+ )

HIKE

We’ll gather at the Poo Poo Point Chirico (Tiger Mountain in Issaquah) trailhead parking lot/picnic table at 8am for coffee, tea and snacks (breakfast bars, trail mix, pastries, etc.). At 8:30am we’ll hike together to the first clearing/viewpoint, just under 2 miles from the trailhead. We’ll set up our yoga mats at the first large clearing.

The total hike is 3.6 miles round-trip with ~1700 ft. elevation gain, with an optional 1/2 mile more to the second/main viewpoint. As needed, we can break into smaller groups to respect the trail and support different paces. This is an intermediate/harder hike with steady climb up. The views and yoga at the top will be well worth the effort to the top! If you’re looking for a yoga hike event with a gentler/easier hike, please see the full calendar here

YOGA

At the clearing I will teach a 60 minute slow-flow Vinyasa yoga practice, focusing on strengthening, stretching, breathing, and connecting to nature. The yoga practice is all-levels – designed for beginner and experienced yogis alike! With any luck, we’ll enjoy views of Mt. Rainier from the top. In the case of rain, we’ll move the yoga practice under the forest canopy (which will add about 1/2 mile to the hike).

After our yoga session, we’ll hike back down together (or you’re welcome to stay at the top and eat lunch or explore the trail more).

MEET UP DETAILS

Space is limited to 35 participants. The meet up fee goes toward the yoga instruction, with 5% of proceeds donated to Washington Trail Association. We’ll also hook you up with coffee/tea/snacks/smiles before and after the yoga hike. We’ll meet up rain or shine. In severe/unsafe weather, I will reschedule the meet up and/or offer a yoga credit to all registered guests to attend a future yoga hike.  Please read the refund/exchange policy below.

What to Bring:

  • Your own yoga mat (and optional strap or yoga bag to carry it during hike)
  • A towel (for under or over your mat, especially if it’s a little wet out)
  • Hiking shoes, clothes comfortable for hiking and yoga (layers highly recommended)
  • Water (more than you think you need), and any additional lunch or snacks.

FINE PRINT

Registrations and payments are non-refundable, however they are exchangeable from one person to another – or from event to event.  In the event the meet up is cancelled or postponed due to severe weather or if the minimum of 10 attendees is not met, I will happily provide a credit for a future outdoor yoga meet up. Attendees are required to sign a waiver to participate. Waivers will be emailed to participants prior to the event, and available day-of. The hike meet up and yoga class are at your own risk. The hike is not a guided hike, we will simply meet up and hike together to the yoga location.
