Join us SATURDAY, JULY 16 for a morning of hiking + yoga

Hike: “Easy” 2.4 miles round-trip, mostly flat with gentle ups and downs

Yoga: 60 minute all-levels slow flow yoga class

Date/Time: Saturday, July 16 7:45am – 12pm

Just outside of Sultan, WA is the beautiful Spada Lake. We’ll meet at the entrance to Spada Lake (aka Olney Pass Kiosk) at 7:45am and then drive/caravan together to the South Shore Trailhead parking lot. At 8:15am we’ll hike the mostly-flat 1.2 miles to the Bear Creek viewpoint. Here, we’ll soak up the stunning views of the aqua-tinted Spada Lake and enjoy a yoga class in a large, grassy clearing. The trailhead is about a 1 hour 20 min drive from Everett, Seattle, or Bellevue. While the trail is mostly flat, there are a couple stream crossings. Waterproof shoes (or hiking sandals) recommended!

When we arrive at the Bear Creek picnic area, we’ll set up our mats in the large grassy clearing. The yoga practice will be a 60-minute slow-flow vinyasa yoga class, focusing on strengthening, stretching, breathing, and connecting to nature. The yoga practice is all-levels – designed for beginner and experienced yogis alike! After yoga, we’ll hike back together.

Space is limited to 12 participants. Free to attend. Optional donations (to support organization and yoga instruction) can be sent to Venmo @pnwyoga (suggested $35). Meet-up is geared for adults; mature teens or children are welcome to attend with their grown-up.

We’ll meet up rain or shine. In severe/unsafe weather, the meet-up will be rescheduled or cancelled.

What to Bring: Your own yoga mat, a towel (for under or over your mat, especially if it’s a little wet out), hiking shoes or hiking sandals (no flip flops!), clothes comfortable for hiking and yoga (layers highly recommended), water, and lunch or snacks. More tips on what to bring will be emailed out prior to the hike.

I am a Certified Yoga Teacher (RYT® 200+), passionate about combining community, yoga, and the outdoors. As an avid hiker, I look forward to hosting several yoga hike meet-ups this summer. When not in the mountains, you can find me teaching at local yoga studios in the greater Everett area and wrangling my two school-aged boys. More about me.

Please pre-register to reserve your spot. All meet-up attendees are required to sign a waiver to participate. The hike meet-up and yoga class are at your own risk. The hike is not a guided hike, we will simply meet up and hike together to the yoga location. Donations are 100% optional and n0n-refundable. Waivers are part of the online registration form, and will also be available day-of to sign.

From Everett, take Highway 2 east to Sultan. Turn left at the traffic light east of town past milepost 23 onto Sultan Basin Road. Follow this road for just over 13 miles.

At 13 miles is a turnout to your right, with a kiosk. Stop here to sign in and get your free permit for parking. The paper you sign asks you to acknowledge that you understand the rules and regulations for visiting Sultan Basin, which is Everett’s public water supply. Please read it carefully before signing and continuing on.

For our yoga hike meet-ups, we’ll meet at this kiosk and caravan together to the trailhead parking lot.

To drive to the trailhead from the kiosk, continue driving straight ahead to the fork in the road. Take a right onto Forest Road 61, following signs to Greider Lakes/South Shore Parking. In 7.1 miles, you will reach the large trailhead.

Privy (restrooms) available at the trailhead and at the picnic area where we’ll do yoga.

If using a map app for directions, search for Spada Lake / Greider Lakes Trailhead.
